In a period not so very long ago, there were once palaces that lined New York’s Fifth Avenue. These mansions were built by the most prominent architects of the day for America’s newly rich millionaires. Learn about these splendid castles and hear stories about their wealthy inhabitants by Gary Lawrance, AIA, who will present a lecture on the lost architecture of the Gilded Age.
Fall Festival at Sagtikos

Experience life from the 1700’s. Watch the 3rd NY Revolutionary Regiment performing maneuver. Take a cemetery tour and listen to the history of the family members who reside there. Activities include crafts for children, old-fashioned games and learn about other historic activities. Also on hand are Colonial demonstrations and exhibits. The Manor will be open for self-guided tour. The Fall Festival is an event for the whole family. Calling all bakers! The Fifth Annual Gingerbread Competition will take place Thanksgiving weekend .It is not too early to dream up your ideas. Make your gingerbread creation (it does not need to be a house) and bring it to the West Islip Public Library to be judged by public voting. Bring your friends and family to view and vote for their favorite. The West Islip Brass Quintet will entertain you with a concert filled with holiday music at 1:00 pm. Light refreshments provided, courtesy of the West Islip Library. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. To enter you must register. It’s FREE to enter! Tour each room of the Manor and hear how a different president celebrated the holidays with his family traditions. Tours begin at 11:00 am through 3:00 pm and leave every 15 minutes. Reserve early for your preferred tour time. For reservations download a reservation form below and mail in before December 9th.
